Vietnam adopts new development model plan targeting 2045

Vietnam’s Party leadership has adopted a resolution to renew the national development model through 2045. The resolution, approved at the third plenum of the 14th Party Central Committee, calls for a shift from simple to "creative labour" and emphasizes science, technology, innovation and maritime strength as drivers of sustainable growth. Politburo member Nguyen Thanh Nghi highlighted the need for a model suited to Vietnam’s level of development and international context, while Party General Secretary and State President To Lam stressed that creative labour will become the country’s most important resource.

The policy push coincides with efforts to boost trade and investment, including a roundtable in Amsterdam chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang with Dutch firms, and talks with New Zealand on expanding cooperation. Vietnam also launched a competition to design the APEC 2027 logo and promoted tourism in sites such as Tram Chim National Park and the Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark, reflecting a broader strategy to raise the nation’s global profile while pursuing higher‑value economic activities.
