Vietnam adopts rubric grading for high school literature exam

The Ministry of Education and Training announced that the 2026 national high school graduation exam will use rubric‑based scoring for the literature subject for the first time. The new system replaces the previous "count‑idea" method with a set of explicit criteria and performance levels, requiring examiners to assess not only content but also organization, expression, spelling and grammar.

Officials say the rubric will improve consistency and fairness, reduce subjectivity among graders, and encourage students to develop deeper analytical and writing skills. Implementation will involve designing detailed rubrics, providing sample papers and training for examiners to align scoring standards across the country.
