Vietnam adopts Rubric grading for 2026 high‑school literature exam

The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) of Vietnam will use the rubric‑based assessment method for the literature component of the 2026 national high‑school graduation exam. Officials say the rubric, which lists explicit criteria and point bands for argumentation, evidence use, logic and expression, will reduce subjective judging and curb both overly strict and overly lenient scoring. Teachers were trained on the system in advance and several provinces piloted it before the roll‑out. Each essay will be marked independently by two examiners in separate panels; a third review is possible if score differences exceed set thresholds. The new process is part of broader reforms to align assessment with the 2018 curriculum’s focus on competencies and critical thinking, and to ensure more uniform results across the country.
