Vietnam advances ADB‑backed Dong Thap coastal road and 500kV power line projects

The provincial government of Dong Thap, Vietnam, is preparing to start construction of a 23‑km coastal road in the first quarter of 2027. The project, valued at more than VND 7,095 billion, will receive about VND 4,136 billion in ADB loans and VND 2,958 billion from local funding. The road is part of a broader transport plan that also includes a 5,147‑billion‑dong investment for the southern Tiền River corridor.

Separately, the EVNNPT and the Asian Development Bank are assessing an ODA loan for a 500 kV transmission line linking Bình Định and Krông Buk in Gia Lai. The line will span roughly 188 km across two provinces, with an expected start‑up in Q1 2027 and completion by 2029. It aims to bolster power transfer capacity for renewable energy sources in the Central and Central‑Highland regions and improve grid reliability nationwide.
