Vietnam advances digital culture and cultural industry development

Vietnam is focusing on developing digital culture and expanding cultural spaces to drive economic growth, following the guidelines of Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW.

In the digital realm, individual responsibility is emphasized to create a healthy environment. The importance of verifying information, respecting privacy, and avoiding toxic language is highlighted to prevent the spread of misinformation and online harassment. Legal frameworks, including the Law on Cybersecurity, are being utilized to penalize defamation and false information.

In Ho Chi Minh City, experts are discussing ways to transform cultural resources into economic value. The city's cultural industry currently employs approximately 97,000 people and includes 17,670 businesses. It is projected to contribute 5.7% to the city's GRDP in 2025, with a target of 7-7.2% by 2030. Challenges remain regarding public-private partnership mechanisms and the need for greater investment in creative human resources and digital data rather than just physical infrastructure.
