Vietnam advances digital finance and securities market reforms
Vietnam is advancing its digital and financial infrastructure through artificial intelligence and market reforms. At the Vietnam Digital Finance 2026 forum, Ministry of Finance officials outlined a strategy to transition from passive to proactive public services using real-time data connectivity and AI. The Ministry is developing an API Gateway to synchronize data with national systems and has launched a pilot scheme for a shared AI platform to automate financial sector processes.
In the securities sector, Vietnam is hosting the Asia Securities Forum AGM in Hanoi. This follows the upgrade of Vietnam’s stock market from Frontier Market to Secondary Emerging Market status by FTSE Russell. While the upgrade improves access to international capital, experts from the Vietnam Association of Securities Business emphasize that long-term investment will require further improvements in market infrastructure, mechanisms, and corporate quality to compete with regional hubs like Singapore and Thailand.
