Vietnam advances cybersecurity laws and digital literacy initiatives
Vietnam is advancing its digital security and infrastructure through new legislation and community initiatives. The Ministry of Public Security, in collaboration with the National Cybersecurity Association, recently held a conference to guide organizations on the 2025 Cybersecurity Law and the Law on Personal Data Protection. Effective July 1, 2026, the new cybersecurity law aims to unify state management of network security and shift from a defensive posture to proactive prevention and national autonomy in technology.
To support digital literacy and safety, local initiatives are addressing the risks faced by students. In Lao Cai, authorities are implementing the “Not Alone - Safe Online Together” campaign at Lao Cai College to educate students on high-tech crimes, scams, and cyberbullying. Meanwhile, in Bac Ninh, the Provincial Youth Union has launched the “Digital Connection – Stepping Towards School” project, donating computers to rural villages and schools to facilitate digital transformation and improve access to public services.
