Vietnam Advances Energy Storage and Solar Power Efficiency
Vietnam's energy sector is focusing on integrating Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) with Grid-Forming (GFM) technology to address stability challenges posed by the rapid growth of inverter‑based renewable sources such as solar and wind. The Vietnam Energy Association highlights that the loss of mechanical inertia from traditional generators reduces short‑circuit power and voltage stability, making GFM‑enabled BESS a critical solution for maintaining grid reliability and energy security.
At the household level, solar photovoltaic installations generate the most electricity between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., a period identified as the “golden hour” for peak output. Consumers can lower costs by shifting high‑power appliances to this window, using net‑metering arrangements to sell excess power back to the grid, and reducing reliance on expensive nighttime grid electricity.
