Vietnam advances green construction and contractor assessment reforms
Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh told the Sustainable Development Forum for Vietnam's construction sector that green transport, green buildings and low‑carbon materials are moving from policy encouragement to practical implementation. He highlighted new legal mechanisms and standards aimed at reducing carbon emissions and promoting circular economy practices in construction projects.
Colonel Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy General Director of Trường Sơn Construction Corporation, said the industry needs a formal system to evaluate and rank contractors. He outlined criteria such as company size, financial strength, project experience, equipment and workforce quality, and social responsibility. The programme is intended to create transparent competition, help authorities select suitable contractors for major national projects, and drive Vietnamese firms toward regional and global markets. Trường Sơn targets revenue of about 50,000 billion VND (≈US$2 billion) by 2026.
