Vietnam advances green transformation through local and maritime initiatives
Vietnam is implementing various green transformation initiatives across different regions to promote environmental protection and sustainable development.
In Mong Cai 3 Ward, Quang Ninh, a new livelihood model has been established where 12 households are farming approximately 80,000 sea crabs under the mangrove forest canopy. This initiative links economic activity directly with forest conservation; participants must sign long-term forest protection contracts and adhere to strict environmental regulations, such as avoiding construction or methods that harm the mangrove ecosystem.
Simultaneously, the Navy's Region 4 Command and the 146th Brigade are working to “green” the Truong Sa Islands. Despite harsh maritime conditions including high salinity, strong winds, and limited soil, military personnel are cultivating diverse vegetable gardens and planting adaptable tree species. This program aims to improve the living conditions of soldiers and residents while enhancing the environmental landscape of the islands through resource mobilization and self-reliance.
