Vietnam advances major airport projects through technical testing

Vietnam is advancing major aviation infrastructure projects with significant testing milestones at both Quảng Trị Airport and Long Thành International Airport.

At Quảng Trị Airport, a technical flight was conducted using a Cessna 208 aircraft to inspect airspace safety and obstacles near the runway. This mission, involving the Ministry of National Defence's SAMCOM, included evaluating the runway, taxiways, and parking areas. The project aims to begin commercial operations by March 2027.

Meanwhile, Long Thành International Airport is undergoing intensive Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) testing to prepare for its first commercial flights in December 2026. Recent activities include the fifth ORAT simulation, which focused on airfield management, telecommunications infrastructure, and emergency rescue drills. Technical teams are also conducting inspections of runway surfaces, signaling systems, and radio network coverage to ensure operational readiness.
