Vietnam advances major highway projects linking Gia Nghia‑Chon Thanh and Long Thanh airport

Vietnam is making significant progress on two large highway projects. The Gia Nghĩa‑Chơn Thành motorway, a 124‑km, six‑lane route funded mainly by a Vingroup‑Techtra consortium, has a total investment of over VND 25.8 trillion. Construction of four resettlement zones covering more than 2,100 households has been completed, and the project is slated to run from 2025 to 2027, offering a design speed of 120 km/h and strengthening links between Đồng Nai, Lâm Đồng, the Central Highlands and the Southeast.

Separately, the Ho Chi Minh City‑Long Thanh highway extension, part of the Long Thanh airport corridor, involves widening a 21.92‑km stretch from four to eight‑to‑ten lanes and adding a new five‑lane Long Thanh bridge. The project, valued at VND 14.945 trillion and led by the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC), is more than half complete, with major bridge work expected by December 2026 and full completion targeted for March 2027. The upgraded route will handle the majority of airport traffic before rail and metro links are finished.
