Vietnam accelerates national infrastructure and transport development

Vietnam is accelerating various large-scale infrastructure projects to enhance regional connectivity and economic growth. In Nghệ An, the Son Hai Group consortium has been awarded a contract exceeding 5,000 billion VND to construct a 60km section of the Vinh - Thanh Thuy expressway.

In the north, a major railway project connecting Lào Cai, Hà Nội, and Hải Phòng is undergoing budget adjustments, with a proposed increase of over 86 trillion VND to meet international transit standards and upgrade to double-track capacity. Meanwhile, construction is ramping up at the Pham Tu - Road 70 intersection in Hanoi, which aims for completion by late 2026 to alleviate local traffic congestion.

In central and southern regions, Gia Lai is focusing on connecting East-West corridors and upgrading airports to boost tourism. In Ho Chi Minh City, the restoration of the Đá Đỏ canal is nearing completion to improve urban environment and drainage. However, environmental challenges persist, as El Niño has caused water levels in the Dầu Tiếng reservoir—Southeast Asia's largest irrigation works—to drop significantly, affecting water security for the region.
