Vietnam advances regional infrastructure and irrigation upgrades

Vietnam is focusing on regional infrastructure and resource management through urban renovation in Quang Ninh and irrigation upgrades in Bac Ninh.

In Quang Ninh, urban renewal projects are underway to improve living standards and city aesthetics. A key project involves upgrading a 3.4km road from Quang Nghia Suspension Bridge to National Highway 18A in Hai Ninh Commune. The road is being widened from 3.5m to 7m. Local residents have shown significant support, with 250 households agreeing to hand over land and assets, and citizens voluntarily donating approximately 34,000m² of land, including fences and structures, to facilitate construction.

In Bac Ninh, authorities are addressing the need to upgrade irrigation systems to combat extreme weather and support rapid urbanization. The province manages four major irrigation systems—Bac Duong, Nam Duong, Nam Song Thuong, and Bac Song Thuong—comprising 288 reservoirs, 21 dams, 1,452 pumping stations, and over 10,000km of canals. Many facilities, particularly pumping stations built in the 1980s and 1990s, are now outdated and require modernization to meet current industrial, agricultural, and residential water demands.
