Vietnam advances STEM and high-tech workforce through educational reforms
Vietnam is implementing strategic educational reforms to bolster its high-tech workforce, driven by the Politburo's Resolution 71. One year after the resolution's issuance, STEM enrollment has increased by 33.6%, with approximately 110,000 students pursuing key engineering and strategic technology fields.
At the university level, institutions like Vietnam National University, Hanoi, are shifting focus toward talent programs in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and strategic technologies. The university has registered 27 training programs with the Ministry of Education and Training, including 15 approved STEM talent programs, while emphasizing practical internships and digital transformation.
At the local level in Quang Ninh province, schools are addressing teacher shortages and enhancing professional quality. Cam Pha High School is actively recruiting specialized teachers in subjects such as Mathematics, English, and National Defense and Security. Additionally, educators at Ha Lam Primary School are participating in training sessions focused on utilizing artificial intelligence in STEM education to improve digital competencies.
