Vietnam commodity markets see coffee price drops and pork stability amid oil supply shocks
Agricultural and energy markets are experiencing significant volatility. In Vietnam, coffee prices saw a downward trend in domestic markets, with averages around 94,600 VND/kg, while global Arabica prices dropped by over 2%. However, some technical recovery was noted in global markets due to short covering and supply concerns in Brazil.
Pork prices in Vietnam remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 57,000 and 60,000 VND/kg across different regions, with Northern provinces seeing slight increases.
In the energy sector, crude oil prices rose sharply, with Brent and WTI increasing by 2.9% and 4.38% respectively. This surge is driven by supply disruptions in Saudi Arabia, specifically involving the East-West Pipeline, and reduced shipping activity through the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, Vietnam's pangasius (tra fish) exports to the United States fell by nearly 14% in the first eight months of 2026, facing pressure from new US import tariffs and anti-dumping duties.
