Vietnam aims to boost halal tourism market

Vietnam is seeking to tap the growing global Muslim travel market by developing halal‑friendly tourism. Officials highlighted the sector’s high‑spending visitors and long stays.

On July 8 2026, Vietnam hosted the Vietnam Halal Tourism Conference in Khanh Hoa Province. Over 300 delegates from countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, Malaysia and Indonesia attended. Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang and Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong said the conference marks the first government‑organised forum on halal tourism and underscored Vietnam’s stable political climate, abundant resources and expanding aviation network as assets.

The ministries plan to cooperate to set halal standards, train staff, improve certification, and promote Vietnam in key Muslim‑majority markets. Local authorities in Khanh Hoa are upgrading hotels, restaurants and prayer facilities to meet halal requirements.
