Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787-9 suffers tailstrike during Munich takeoff

A Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787-9, operating flight VN34 from Munich to Hanoi, experienced a tailstrike during takeoff at Munich Airport on August 15. The aircraft, carrying 271 passengers and 16 crew members, suffered a sudden jolt as the tail struck the runway, accompanied by reports of abnormal tire pressure. Following the incident, the pilot performed an emergency return to the airport for technical inspection.

In response, Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident. The directive instructs relevant ministries to coordinate with German authorities to determine the exact cause and assign responsibility, ensuring the process adheres to both Vietnamese law and international aviation regulations. Authorities have also been tasked with reviewing aircraft maintenance, technical inspection procedures, and crew training protocols to prevent similar occurrences. Measures are also being taken to ensure the legal rights and support of the affected passengers.
