Vietnam Airports Corp cuts 2,300 jobs as Long Thanh airport nears opening
Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) reduced its workforce by more than 2,300 employees during the first half of 2026, bringing total staff to roughly 8,500. The cuts, part of a broader restructuring, lowered personnel and benefit costs by about 1.9 trillion VND compared with the same period last year.
Despite the downsizing, ACV reported a profit of nearly 6,700 trillion VND for the first six months, surpassing its target. The company also confirmed that the Long Thanh International Airport project remains on schedule, with a trial run planned for September and commercial operations expected from December. While over 250 new hires have been made for safety, ground‑handling, and technical roles, the construction site still needs an additional 1,500‑2,000 workers, especially for terminal and internal‑airport road works.
