Vietnam PM Le Minh Hung completes official visits to Laos and Cambodia

Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung completed an official visit to Laos and Cambodia from October 8 to 10, 2026, marking his first bilateral tour since assuming office. The visit focused on strengthening comprehensive cooperation and strategic ties with both neighboring nations.

In Cambodia, PM Hung met with Prime Minister Hun Manet and other high-ranking officials, including Senate President Hun Sen and National Assembly President Khuon Sudary. The two leaders agreed to aim for a bilateral trade turnover of 20 billion USD. They also committed to organizing the Vietnam–Cambodia Friendship Year in 2027. During the visit, several cooperation documents were signed in areas such as security, drug control, trade, culture, and education. Additionally, the Vietnam-Cambodia Business Forum 2026 saw the exchange of five cooperation documents, including adjusted investment certificates for Thaco Agri projects in Kratie and Ratanakiri totaling 648 million USD.

PM Hung also visited the Angkormilk factory in Phnom Penh, a Vinamilk project with a total investment of 51.7 million USD. The facility has been a significant contributor to the Cambodian economy, recording cumulative revenue of 573 million USD between 2015 and 2025.

In Laos, the visit included meetings with President Thongloun Sisoulith and Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith. The discussions emphasized maintaining political trust and enhancing cooperation in economy, trade, energy, and infrastructure.
