Vietnam and Cuba strengthen ties through agriculture and diplomacy

Vietnam and Cuba continue to strengthen their bilateral ties through agricultural cooperation and cultural exchange. In a significant milestone for food security, the first 470 tons of rice produced using Vietnamese rice varieties in Cuba have been handed over. This achievement, part of the ‘TBAgri connects Vietnam-Cuba’ project, was facilitated by Vietnam’s TBAgri and Cuba’s GRANMAX in the Yara district of Granma province.

The project has demonstrated promising initial yields of 7 to 8 tons per hectare through the application of new cultivation techniques and sustainable agricultural technology. This cooperation aims to enhance Cuba’s food sovereignty and reduce import dependency amidst economic challenges.

In addition to economic cooperation, the historical and diplomatic bond between the two nations is being celebrated through cultural works. A new 738-page publication titled ‘Fidel Castro Ruz - Cuba in the Heart of the Vietnamese People’ was recently presented by Cuban Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes. The book explores the legacy of Fidel Castro and the deep-rooted friendship between the two countries.
