Vietnam upgrades relations with Denmark and EU to Comprehensive Strategic Partnerships

During an official diplomatic mission to Europe from October 19 to 24, 2026, Vietnamese President To Lam facilitated significant upgrades in international relations. Vietnam and Denmark have established a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, focusing on green transition, renewable energy, and digital transformation in healthcare. As part of this visit, Petrovietnam engaged with Danish partners to promote offshore wind energy development.

In Brussels, President To Lam met with European Union leadership, including Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Council President António Costa. Following the upgrade of Vietnam-EU relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in January 2026, both parties committed to deepening cooperation in defense, maritime security, cybersecurity, and critical raw materials. The leaders also emphasized the full implementation of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

In Belgium, the President met with officials to strengthen bilateral ties, noting the historic importance of the visit for Vietnam-Belgium relations. Additionally, a Hanoi delegation met with the LEGO Group in Copenhagen to sign a cooperation agreement regarding STEAM education projects.
