Vietnam and India aim for $25 billion trade target

Representatives from Vietnam and India gathered in Ho Chi Minh City on August 17 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of India's Independence. The event was organized by the Vietnam-India Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City (VIFA), the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO), and the Consulate General of India.

During the meeting, officials discussed the deepening ties between the two nations, which are moving toward a phase of enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. A key economic objective was highlighted: aiming to increase bilateral trade to $25 billion by 2030.

Speakers noted India's significant advancements in science, technology, space, and digital transformation over the last eight decades. The relationship, rooted in ancient cultural and religious connections and strengthened by historical meetings between leaders like Ho Chi Minh and Jawaharlal Nehru, continues to expand into sectors such as defense, security, investment, and innovation.
