Vietnam and Mexico to strengthen legislative and medical cooperation

Vietnam and Mexico are working to strengthen bilateral ties through enhanced legislative cooperation and medical exchange. During a meeting in Hanoi on August 17, Vietnam’s National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man met with Alberto Anaya Gutierrez, General Secretary of the Mexican Labour Party (PT), to discuss increasing coordination between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Mexican Senate and Chamber of Deputies.

President Man emphasized that Mexico has become a leading trading partner for Vietnam in Latin America, noting positive momentum in economy, trade, and investment. The discussions focused on sharing lawmaking experiences and promoting parliamentary friendship groups to support national development and institutional reform.

In addition to political and economic discussions, health cooperation remains a significant pillar of the relationship. Officials highlighted over 20 years of collaboration in traditional medicine and acupuncture, supported by three Vietnamese acupuncture centers operating in Mexico City, Monterrey, and at the Autonomous University. New agreements were signed to expand cooperation in medical training and expert exchange.
