Vietnam and Russia strengthen strategic partnership through diplomatic consultations

Vietnam and Russia held a Deputy Foreign Minister-level political consultation to strengthen their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The meeting was co-chaired by Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Lê Thị Thu Hằng and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko.

The two sides reviewed bilateral relations following their previous consultation in Hanoi in February 2025. Discussions focused on identifying specific measures to overcome difficulties and promote cooperation between the two nations and their respective foreign ministries. Both parties agreed to coordinate closely to prepare for high-level delegation exchanges through the end of 2026.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko stated that Vietnam is a reliable and sincere partner and remains a priority in Russia's foreign policy within the Asia-Pacific region. Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Lê Thị Thu Hằng reaffirmed that Russia continues to be one of Vietnam's most important partners, noting that historical support from the former Soviet Union serves as a foundation for deep cooperation in a new era.
