Vietnam and Chile strengthen Comprehensive Partnership

Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung met with Chilean Foreign Minister Francisco Pérez Mackenna in Hanoi to discuss strengthening the Comprehensive Partnership between the two nations. The meeting coincided with the 55th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. Both sides expressed a desire to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, science and technology, finance, and defense and security. Minister Mackenna identified Vietnam as a leading partner in Southeast Asia and emphasized the potential for growth in agricultural trade, mining, and energy transition.

In a separate diplomatic development, Vietnam and South Korea are working to expand higher education cooperation. Discussions between Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training and Jeonbuk National University focused on sharing expertise in regional university models and collaborative research in semiconductors and artificial intelligence.

Additionally, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung received Professor Tran Thanh Van, President of the Vietnam Encounter Scientific Association, to discuss the role of science and technology as key drivers for Vietnam’s sustainable development and the importance of supporting overseas Vietnamese intellectuals.
