South Korean higher education and industry cooperation

South Korean institutions are expanding educational and technological cooperation at both local and international levels.

Domestically, regional universities and local governments are intensifying industry-academic partnerships to stimulate economic growth. In Chungnam, Sun Moon University hosted networking events to facilitate joint research and technology commercialization between local companies and academia. In Ansan, a cooperation council involving multiple universities focused on integrating educational resources with urban development projects and cultivating AI talent to support industrial transitions.

Internationally, South Korea is strengthening higher education ties with Vietnam. Discussions between Vietnamese and South Korean education officials centered on developing regional university models and enhancing research and training in critical sectors, specifically semiconductors and artificial intelligence. Efforts include expanding educational opportunities for Vietnamese students in South Korea and investing in specialized laboratory training programs.

Building on these efforts, Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training has engaged in discussions with Jeonbuk National University. These talks focused on sharing expertise regarding regional university models and advancing collaborative research in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence.
