Vietnam approves and advances major bridge projects in Hue and Hanoi

The Hue People's Committee approved the Cồn Hến bridge and approach roads with a total investment of VND 2.2 trillion, of which VND 1.1 trillion comes from the central budget. The four‑year project will include a 2.1 km crossing of the Hương River, a 26‑metre-wide deck, and extensive land acquisition and resettlement for about 9.73 ha. A design competition has been concluded, selecting the winning architectural plan for the bridge.

In northern Vietnam, the Vân Phúc bridge over the Red River, part of a 7.77 km corridor linking Hanoi and Phú Thọ, has been under construction for nearly a year. The VND 3.443 trillion project is progressing with continuous three‑shift, four‑team work to meet a target opening in Q4 2027. Major construction milestones include the installation of thousands of deep‑driven piles, completion of land acquisition for 28.98 ha, and ongoing work on bridge piers, decks and approach roads. Upon completion, the bridge will provide four motor vehicle lanes and two service lanes, easing traffic on existing river crossings and supporting regional economic development.
