Vietnam authorities prosecute executives for environmental pollution

Authorities in Vietnam have initiated criminal proceedings against two company executives for environmental pollution offenses involving the illegal disposal of industrial and construction waste.

In Quang Ninh, H. V. H, General Director of Quang Ninh Concrete Joint Stock Company, has been prosecuted under the Penal Code. Investigations revealed that the company’s concrete mixing station generated approximately 121,880 kg of concrete residue. Instead of following legal disposal protocols, H. V. H allegedly directed workers to transport and dump the waste on adjacent private lands borrowed for material storage.

In Hanoi, Nguyen Van Cham, Director of Viet Dung Transport Co., Ltd., has been charged with similar offenses. Authorities discovered that Cham directed drivers to perform 255 illegal trips, dumping over 4,500 tons of construction waste and sludge into the Xam Thi marsh area. The waste was reportedly sourced from a social housing project in Yen So ward.
