Vietnam aviation authorities address regional airport development

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam is coordinating with the Ministry of Construction to refine the master plan for Can Tho International Airport. The goal is to integrate the airport with a free trade zone and an aviation logistics center to serve as a transport hub for the Southwest region. A specialized appraisal council has been established to oversee the detailed planning for the 2021–2030 period, with a long-term vision through 2050.

In a separate regional development matter, officials in Quang Tri province are discussing ways to attract airlines to the newly completed Quang Tri airport. T&T Group Chairman Do Quang Hien suggested that local authorities implement cost-support mechanisms for airlines operating new routes to mitigate initial losses. Quang Tri provincial leaders indicated they are considering support policies similar to those in Gia Lai, which include providing up to 200 million VND for each charter flight, subject to budget regulations and provincial council approval.
