Vietnam Banking Sector Digital Transformation Competition Ends with Vietcombank Victory

Vietnam's banking industry launched the Digital Transformation Competition on 22 May 2026, marking the sector’s 75th anniversary and the national Digital Transformation Day. The event, co‑organized by the Vietnam Bankers’ Union and Vietcombank, invited 32 teams from banks, credit institutions and related units to showcase digital innovations across three rounds – “Combine Strength,” “Conquer the Digital Era,” and “Create the Digital Future.”

Vice Governor Phạm Tiến Dũng opened the contest, noting a shift from “competition for assessment” to “competition for learning and practical application.” He highlighted a nationwide “digital learning for the masses” campaign featuring 400 publicly shared quiz questions aimed at hundreds of thousands of banking workers.

The finale on 23 May, overseen by State Bank Governor Phạm Đức Ấn, affirmed the banking sector’s role as a pioneer in Vietnam’s national digital transformation agenda outlined in Party Resolution 57. Vietcombank received the special prize for its comprehensive performance, while SACOMBANK won first place and BIDV, TPBank, Agribank and others secured additional honors. The governor reiterated the sector’s commitment to advancing digital infrastructure, data, payment and security to support a modern, sustainable digital economy.
