Vietnam banks hold deposit rates steady as July‑August survey shows

A survey of listed deposit rates at 34 Vietnamese banks on 31 July and 1 August found the market largely unchanged. Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) remained the top provider with a 12‑month rate of 7.8%, also offering 7.6% for six months and 7.7% for nine months. Saigonbank and Bac A Bank followed with rates of 7.2% and 7.1% respectively, while several banks, including MBV, VCBNeo, PGBank and VIB, stayed at 7.0% for the 12‑month term.

State‑owned banks Agribank, BIDV, Vietcombank and VietinBank (the “Big4”) kept their rates at 6.8% for 12‑ and 18‑month deposits, with 6.6% for six‑ and nine‑month terms. The overall spread between the highest (7.8%) and lowest (3.7%) 12‑month rates stayed at 4.1 percentage points, indicating a stable funding environment with no broad rate hikes.
