Vietnam banks show steady rates, profit surge and Agribank capital increase
Major Vietnamese banks kept deposit rates largely unchanged in early July. ACB posted the highest online rate of 7.3% per annum for a 12‑month term, while most banks offered rates between 6.6% and 6.9%.
ABBank announced a six‑month profit of VND 3,016 billion, an 80% rise from the same period in 2025, meeting 67% of its 2026 target. VietinBank’s total assets reached the 3 quadrillion VND mark for the first time, and Agribank’s loan portfolio exceeded 2 quadrillion VND.
HDBank’s July rates remained competitive. Standard deposits range from 5.2% to 5.5% for 12‑18‑month terms, while special‑product online deposits offer up to 7.6% annual for a 13‑month term.
The Vietnamese government approved an additional VND 9.525 trillion of capital for Agribank in 2026, raising its authorized capital to VND 81.328 trillion. The bank’s total assets topped VND 2.7 quadrillion and its loan portfolio surpassed VND 2 quadrillion, with agricultural lending accounting for about 65% of its book.
