Vietnam beaches see multiple incidents of tourists swept away by waves

Several incidents involving tourists being swept out to sea by powerful waves have been reported at various beaches in Vietnam.

In Da Nang, 24-year-old Truong Thi Phuong survived an eight-hour ordeal at sea after being swept away from the Son Tra Peninsula on Saturday. Phuong, who was unable to swim, managed to stay afloat using a makeshift float made of plastic bottles that drifted toward her. She was eventually spotted and rescued by a vessel from Vietnam's Naval Region 3.

In Dak Lak Province, authorities are searching for a 27-year-old Chinese tourist, Zhang Lang, who was swept out to sea at Tuy Hoa beach on Friday. Lifeguards attempted a rescue, but large waves pushed him out of sight. In a separate incident at the same province's Bai Mon Beach, three tourists from Russia and Kazakhstan were rescued after being swept into a rocky crevice by strong waves.
