Vietnam infrastructure projects face weather and environmental challenges
Various infrastructure and social projects are currently underway across Vietnam, facing both progress and environmental challenges.
In the north, the modernization and environmental improvement project for the Bac Hung Hai irrigation system has officially commenced. This initiative aims to address long-standing pollution issues and upgrade the system to serve approximately 3.3 million people and over 116,000 hectares of agricultural land across Hanoi, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, and Hai Phong.
In central and southern regions, construction efforts are navigating seasonal difficulties. The Dai Ngai Bridge project is working to maintain its 72% completion progress despite heavy rains and high humidity in the Mekong Delta. Meanwhile, in Quang Tri, emergency riverbank erosion mitigation projects along the Vinh Dinh River have faced temporary pauses due to continuous heavy rainfall.
In Da Nang, heavy rains have triggered landslides in mountainous areas, including Tra Giap and Nam Tra My communes, necessitating the evacuation of residents and the clearing of blocked roads. In Hanoi, a socialized project has launched to preserve the “Ket Doan” relief, a historic urban artwork, by relocating it to the south of Long Bien Flower Garden to create a new public cultural space.
