Vietnam agricultural and trade sector developments

Vietnam is experiencing diverse developments across its agricultural and trade sectors, characterized by infrastructure expansion, regulatory enforcement, and market diversification.

In the agricultural sector, regional efforts include prioritizing rice harvests to mitigate natural disasters in Ha Tinh, developing large-scale organic farming complexes, and improving irrigation systems. There is also a growing focus on high-value aquaculture, such as sturgeon farming in Tuyen Quang, and regulated wildlife farming in Thái Nguyên. To modernize the industry, authorities are preparing to implement electronic fishing logbooks for vessels.

Trade activities show significant scale, with Vietnam-China bilateral trade reaching 256 billion USD in 2025. While provinces like Quảng Ninh are strengthening ties with Chinese regions to boost import-export activities, authorities are also intensifying crackdowns on smuggling, including the interception of large quantities of undocumented frozen food and counterfeit cosmetics. To mitigate risks from global protectionism, Vietnam is actively seeking to diversify its export markets, identifying India as a high-potential destination for agricultural products.
