Vietnam billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong secures 4.9% stake in LPBank
Vietnamese billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong acquired more than 146.2 million shares of LPBank, valued at roughly VND 6.725 trillion (about USD 259 million), raising his ownership to 4.894% of the bank’s charter capital.
The deal was highlighted in Grant Thornton Vietnam's report on first‑half‑2026 M&A activity, which recorded 126 announced transactions worth a combined VND 63 trillion (USD 2.43 billion). Real estate, tourism‑hospitality and finance sectors dominated the market, with notable moves such as Phat Dat’s purchase of a 35% stake in Lotte Properties HCMC for VND 7.666 trillion, and Vinpearl’s USD 255 million financing round.
Other significant transactions cited include VietinBank Capital’s purchase of Petrosetco shares, increasing its stake to 13.45%, and Diamond Crown Homes’ indirect control of a construction firm involved in the Grand Mercure Hội An project.
