Vietnam boarding school construction nears completion for new school year
Vietnam is accelerating the completion of 108 inter-level boarding schools across 19 provinces to prepare for the upcoming school year. According to the Ministry of Education and Training, 99 of these schools are funded by the Central budget. As of mid-August, progress varies significantly across the country. In An Giang, all three planned schools have reached 100% completion. Other provinces, including Dak Lak, Lai Chau, and Dien Bien, have reported completion rates of 98% to 99%.
The Ministry expects over 30 schools to finish equipment installation by August 25, with more than 60 schools scheduled for handover before August 30. However, several provinces, including Quang Ninh, Cao Bang, Lai Chau, and Nghe An, are facing delays.
In Gia Lai, heavy seasonal rains and a shortage of skilled labor have caused six out of seven border boarding school projects to fall behind schedule by 5 to 18 days. The total construction value implemented in Gia Lai is approximately 1,036 billion VND, representing about 80% of the contract value. Meanwhile, in Hue, the A Luoi 4 boarding school project is in a final sprint, with over 450 personnel, including military support, working to meet handover deadlines.
