Vietnam boosts AI‑enabled study tools and hands‑on training for university students

Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training has issued a new university curriculum that prioritises digital competence, AI application, adaptability and lifelong learning. In response, many students are turning to tablet computers equipped with AI‑powered software such as WPS Office, which now includes AI features for summarising documents, generating slide outlines and automating spreadsheet tasks. During the Back To School campaign, Huawei MatePad tablets pre‑installed with WPS Office 3.0 were offered with a free one‑year licence to the AI suite.

At the same time, institutions like FPT PolySchool are foregrounding practical, workplace‑linked training under a "Learn‑Do" model. Companies such as VHandy, Tam Chúc Tourism and Vietnam Hung Ha Nam Auto report that interns from the school quickly adapt, handling up to 90% of a regular employee’s workload after just a few days of on‑the‑job experience. Employers highlight the graduates' proactive attitude, real‑world problem‑solving skills and ability to contribute to projects immediately.

Together, the push for AI‑enhanced learning tools and experiential education aims to close the gap between university study and employer expectations in Vietnam's evolving labour market.
