Vietnam braces for heavy rains and flooding in north and south

A five‑day heavy‑rain pattern driven by a low‑pressure trough and upper‑level wind convergence is expected to hit northern Vietnam, bringing 30–200 mm of rain in many areas. The weather agency warned that rainfall could exceed 100 mm within three hours, raising the risk of urban flooding, flash floods, landslides and river levels rising up to four metres. Small rivers may reach alert levels 1‑2, and low‑lying industrial zones could be inundated.

In the south, vehicles were seen navigating flooded streets in Ho Chi Minh City as heavy rain continued to affect the region, highlighting the broader impact of the spell across the country.
