Vietnam builds national heritage data bank to power cultural industry

Vietnam is constructing a national heritage data bank as part of implementing Resolution 80 on cultural development. PGS‑TS Bùi Hoài Sơn, a standing member of the parliamentary Cultural and Social Committee, said the database must go beyond a simple electronic archive; it should provide high‑precision original data, standardized records with clear identifiers and rights‑management, and publicly accessible layers for education, tourism and creative industries. The initiative aims to turn digitised heritage into a shared knowledge infrastructure that can be used by schools, researchers and tech companies.

At the same time, the stage production “Đất Nước Thiên Hùng Ca” has sold out repeatedly, showing that historic Vietnamese stories told with modern artistic language and advanced technology can spark national pride and generate demand for high‑quality cultural products. Sơn argues such successes demonstrate the potential of a well‑managed heritage data system to fuel a vibrant cultural‑industry ecosystem.
