Vietnam calls for international fugitive Đỗ Thanh Lâm to surrender

The Supreme People's Procuracy of Vietnam has issued a call for Đỗ Thanh Lâm, an individual wanted internationally, to surrender to authorities.

Following an investigation by the Ministry of Public Security, prosecutors have recommended the indictment of Đỗ Thanh Lâm for smuggling under the 2015 Penal Code. Lâm, a Vietnamese national born in 1975, is currently believed to be residing in Strathfield, New South Wales, Australia.

A warrant for his arrest was originally issued by the Ministry of Public Security in April 2011, and he was subsequently placed on INTERPOL’s international wanted list on July 6, 2021. Authorities have stated that if he continues to evade capture, he will be prosecuted and tried according to the law, forfeiting his right to defense.
