Vietnam celebrates cultural heritage with Ho Chi Minh City’s 50‑year anniversary and Dak Lak sea‑festival

Ho Chi Minh City staged a series of free cultural activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Saigon–Gia Đinh. Highlights included an international 3D‑mapping show projected on the municipal building façade from July 1‑3, a ceremony on July 2 named after President Hồ Chí Minh, a live TV link connecting three venues, and open‑air performances of music, folk art and community shows along Nguyễn Huệ pedestrian street. An exhibition of historic photographs ran July 1‑11 across central sites, and a heritage‑week at the city museum recapped more than three centuries of development.

In Dak Lak province, the program “Đắk Lắk – Sắc màu di sản miền biển” was presented on the night of June 26 during the Cầu ngư Festival in Da Ngư quarter. The theatrical production reenacted the traditional Nam Hải deity ritual, linking the fishing community’s spiritual practices to modern tourism. Organisers emphasized that staging heritage on stage revitalises local culture, strengthens community identity and offers a sustainable attraction for visitors.
