Vietnam prepares for National Day holiday with tourism and transport surges

Vietnam is preparing for a major five-day National Day holiday on September 2, with widespread cultural, transport, and tourism activities planned across the country.

In Hanoi, authorities are offering free access to the entire bus network and metro lines (including the Cat Linh - Ha Dong and Nhon - Hanoi lines) from August 29 to September 2. The city will also host fireworks displays at five locations and various cultural exhibitions. To manage the expected surge in travelers, the aviation sector is increasing capacity, with domestic tourist routes expected to reach nearly 1 million seats. Flight prices for several major routes, such as Hanoi to Phu Quoc and Nha Trang, have shown recent decreases.

Tourism hubs like Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Da Lat remain top destinations. In Da Nang, Sun World Ba Na Hills is highlighting new interactive light art experiences. Ca Mau is hosting its first hot air balloon festival and heritage day. Meanwhile, the railway sector is adding 37 extra trips to accommodate the high demand for travel between major cities.

Security and traffic management are being prioritized in border provinces like Lao Cai to ensure smooth transit and safety during the peak period.
