Nepal flash floods leave Vietnamese citizen missing
A Vietnamese citizen is reported missing following devastating flash floods in northern Nepal. The disaster, which has caused significant mudslides and buried structures, has prompted an extensive response from Nepalese authorities, including the deployment of the army and police to affected areas.
Vo Thi Kim Cuong, chairwoman of the Vietnamese Association in Nepal, described the event as one of the most devastating natural disasters she has witnessed in 16 years. While rescue efforts are underway, officials warned that operations remain highly dangerous due to the risk of newly formed water bodies bursting.
The missing individual was reportedly near the Tibet Autonomous Region of China-Nepal border checkpoint. Local authorities have advised residents to move to higher ground, and trekking groups are being urged to avoid the Langtang and Kailash routes during the upcoming mountain trekking season.
