Vietnam commemorates war heroes in Thanh Hóa and Ho Chi Minh City

On July 10, Deputy Prime Minister Lê Tiến Châu visited Thanh Hóa province to lay a wreath and pay tribute to Ngô Thị Tuyến, a celebrated heroine of the People’s Armed Forces who died at age 81. The ceremony highlighted her wartime bravery, including defending the Hàm Rồng bridge and transporting heavy ammunition under fire, and noted the many honors she received from the state.

Meanwhile, residents of Ho Chi Minh City have been gathering daily at Le Thi Rieng Park to light incense and offer food in memory of unidentified martyrs buried in mass graves. Families hope ongoing excavations will locate the remains of their relatives, many of whom have waited decades for closure. The commemorations reflect a broader effort to honor Vietnam’s war dead and preserve the tradition of remembering those who sacrificed for the nation.
