Vietnam Converts Forest Land for Tourism Projects in Gia Lai, Phú Quốc

The Gia Lai provincial government approved the conversion of more than 190 ha of protective forest in Cát Tiến commune for a large cultural, sports and entertainment complex. The project, led by Blooming Sky Co., aims to attract about 1.2 million international visitors each year and boost local tax revenues.

In Phú Quốc, authorities seized over 1,300 m² of land from two households to clear space for the Bà Kèo resort, a 44,000 m² tourism development that has been delayed for more than two decades due to land‑acquisition disputes. Officials have offered compensation in line with land law as they move forward with the project.

Both initiatives are promoted as drivers of economic and social growth for their respective regions.
