Vietnam court sentences singer and model in major drug case

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Court has issued sentences in connection with the massive VN10 drug trafficking investigation, which involved the seizure of over 2.9 kg of ketamine and 8.3 kg of MDMA hidden in toothpaste tubes on a flight from France. The investigation led to the prosecution of 227 defendants in this specific case, part of a broader crackdown involving thousands of suspects.

Among those sentenced, singer Nguyễn Trung Hiếu (known as Chi Dân) received seven years in prison for organizing the illegal use of drugs. Spanish model Andrea Aybar Carmona was sentenced to a total of eight years in prison, comprising one year for illegal drug possession and seven years for organizing illegal drug use. Additionally, Nguyễn Đỗ Trúc Phương was sentenced to six years for her role in providing locations and drugs for group consumption.

The VN10 case revealed a highly organized multi-layered network with transaction flows totaling nearly 29 trillion VND. The investigation expanded from the initial airport discovery to uncover various groups using drugs, including those linked to the aforementioned public figures.
