Vietnam Cuts Funding for Khánh Hòa–Buôn Ma Thuột Highway, Aims to Finish by End‑2026

The second component of the Khánh Hòa–Buôn Ma Thuột highway project in Vietnam is encountering difficult terrain and construction constraints. Because the planned 2026 budget of more than VND 3,258 billion cannot be fully disbursed, the project’s investor has asked the Ministry of Construction to reduce the state‑budget allocation by over VND 1,046 billion. The revised funding will still cover the core works, with a separate reserve of about VND 900 billion for contingencies.

Project director Phan Tất Thành said the technical completion of the entire route is targeted for 2 September 2026, with full operational launch before 31 December 2026, as directed by the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 1060/QĐ‑TTg. Contractor representative Phạm Văn Hùng noted that contractors have reorganised schedules, added work shifts and increased resources to meet the accelerated timeline.

The request aligns with a broader government push to speed up several highway projects, including the Cam Lộ‑La Sơn expansion through Huế and the overall goal of completing the Khánh Hòa–Buôn Ma Thuột corridor within the year.
