Vice Prime Minister Hồ Quốc Dũng recently chaired a meeting regarding the draft amendment to the Land Law. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has developed the draft based on feedback from various ministries, local authorities, businesses, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front. The draft aims to establish a framework of principles, leaving specific details to be regulated by the Government, ministries, and local authorities to ensure flexibility.

Key areas of focus in the amendment include improving land-use planning, refining regulations on land allocation and leasing, and addressing compensation and resettlement. Notably, the draft explores mechanisms for anti-speculation taxes and measures to handle abandoned land. It also covers land pricing, land recovery authority, and notary regulations.

To ensure transparency and public engagement, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is collaborating with the Ministry of Public Security to collect public opinions on the draft through the VNeID application. This includes specific provisions regarding land use fees, land rent, and the principles for land valuation based on specialized data.
